Police Rescue 17-Year-Old Girl ‘Locked Up By Her Aunt’

Plateau Police Command has rescued a 17-year-old girl reportedly locked up by her aunt in Jos, the state capital.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Coordinator in Plateau, Grace Pam, said the girl was rescued in Rikkos area of Jos North LGA.

Pam explained that the victim was brought to live with her aunt after her grandmother, who was taking care of her, became sick.

NHRC Coordinator said, “The commission received information from an anonymous complainant that the girl was locked up on the balcony of a house by her aunt.

“She was living with her grandmother before she came to the aunt’s house because the grandmother took ill and could not continue to care for her.

“The complainant alleged that the aunt travelled for close to a week and left the girl without food.

“Investigation revealed that the girl was truly malnourished and had scars on her hands, neck, and other parts of her body. The marks resulted from incessant beatings she received from her aunt.

“The matter was reported to the police where the aunt’s statement was taken upon return from her trip.

Bobrisky Not Getting VIP Treatment In Correctional Centre – NCoS

Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Lagos State Command, has refuted claims that popular social media personality Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, is accommodated in a VIP apartment at the Correctional Centre.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that the NCoS released a statement signed by its spokesperson, Rotimi Oladokun, clarifying the situation.

Reports circulating online alleged that Bobrisky, who is currently serving a six-month prison sentence for abuse of the naira notes, was enjoying special privileges in a newly built VIP apartment within the correctional facility.

The statement denied the existence of en-suite-style cells or one-bedroom flats within the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

According to the statement, Bobrisky, like other convicted inmates, has been allocated a shared cell within the facility.

The statement read: “The attention of the Nigerian Correctional Service Lagos State Command has been drawn to some mischievous and misleading online publications.

“Without prejudice to NCoS right to seek legal redress for the libellous publication, outlined are clarifications on the said issues.
