A sports commentator at Hunter Radio, based in Rwentuha Town Council, Igara East in Bushenyi District, the deceased was known as Allan Mandela, also known as Sports King Mateeka.

A 26-year-old Ugandan presenter, Allan Mandela, has died.

His girlfriend stabbed the young man who worked at the local radio station to death for supposedly cheating on her.

The deceased, also known as Sports King Mateeka, was a Hunter Radio sports commentator based in Rwentuha Town Council, Igara East in Bushenyi District.

Allan was discovered at about 5 a.m. on Friday morning, February 12, in a pool of blood in his room just behind his workplace in Rwentuha City Council. His body was transported for postmortem to Bushenyi Health Center IV.

The Regional Police Speaker for Greater Bushenyi, Mr. Martial Tumusiime, who confirmed the incident, said that the perpetrator, Loice Tihainomwangire, a receptionist at the BFM radio station in the municipality of Bushenyi, was arrested.

Mr Tumusiime said Mateeka had been stabbed in the throat with a metallic object. He added that on Thursday, Tihainomwangire went to Mateeka’s house and stayed for a night.

“Mr. Tumusiime said, “We have the suspect in our custody, and we have arrested her from the scene where she was locked up.

Hunter FM station manager Rogers Akandwanaho says the two had been in a relationship for almost two and a half years and had split, but later reunited.

They heard cries from Mateeka’s room on Friday morning, according to Akandwanaho, and when they broke into the room, Tihainomwangire tried to escape, but was arrested.

I kept them from taking girls around the office in their rooms and I don’t know how the perpetrator came in last night. She tried to run, but my staff stopped her and she locked herself inside and called the police, who came and arrested her,” he said.
