Sarkodie, a well-known rapper from Ghana, has opened up about the lifestyle choices that have contributed to his addiction to smoking cigars.
Recently, the well-known rapper discovered a penchant for cigar smoking, which he has gone on to flaunt in music videos and even in public places, alarming many of his fans.
He claimed that he had never imagined that he would adore cigars, much less be caught publicly puffing one.
Sarkodie claimed in an exclusive interview with Firestick that he smokes because he lacks confidence in his ability to make decisions.
In addition, he said that while growing up, he made the decision to lead a clean lifestyle, but as time passed and his brand became more well-known, he was forced to change his mind and begin smoking.
Many people who looked up to the father of two and considered him as a role model have labeled him as having a negative influence on young people.
In an interview with Hitz FM in August, Sarkodie claimed that cigar smoking has special meaning in the entertainment industry and that it symbolizes a “celebration of accomplishment.”
He mentioned on Hitz FM that smoking in whatever form is harmful to one’s health. “Cigar means celebrating success and triumphs in my realm of entertainment.”
The rapper also refuted claims that he invented the cigar.
Social media users started talking about Sarkodie when pictures of him smoking a cigar went viral.
The rapper has made significant contributions to the Ghanaian music scene, for which he has received many honors, including the Vodafone Ghana Music Award for “Artiste of the Decade.”
At the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards, he was declared the inaugural winner of BET’s Best International Flow Artist category.
He is also regarded as one of the leading exponents of the Azonto music and dance, as well as one of the greatest African rappers ever.
