Senate approves 10 additional National Parks –

The Senate has approved the establishment of 10 additional National Parks in the country.

This followed the adoption of a motion on the National Park declaration Order 22, sponsored by Senator Gobir Abdullahi(APC-Sokoto) at plenary.

Presenting the motion, Abdullahi said that President Muhammadu Buhari wrote to the Senate on November 16, 2022, requesting the concurrence of the Senate to the National Park declaration Order, 2022 in consonance with section 18 of the National Park Service Act 2004.

He said the national park declaration order sought to establish 10 additional national parks based on due feasibility studies and environmental impact assessment in 12 selected forests and game reserves in various states of the federation.

He listed the parks to include the Alawa National Park, Niger state, Apoi National Park, Bayelsa state, Edumenun National Park, Bayelsa state, Galgore National Park, Kano state, Hadejia Wetland National Park,Jigawa state.

Others were Kempe National Park, Kwara state, Kogo National Park, Kastina state, Marhi National Park, Nasarawa state, Oba Hill National Park, Osun state and Pandam National Park, Plateau state.

‘Afrobeats greater than Afro-anything’: Rema counters colleagues belittling music genre

Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter, Destiny Ikubor aka Rema has shared his opinion on the fad by some of his colleagues who are distancing their music from Afrobeats.

Award-winning singer, David Adeleke better known as Davido has stated that his success in the music industry didn’t come from his father’s wealth.

In an interview on the American podcast ‘Business Untitled’, Davido addressed the misconception about his success being solely linked to his affluent family background.

He emphasized that although his father’s financial status may have presented obstacles initially, it didn’t pave the way for his success.

Davido noted that there were individuals from wealthier backgrounds who tried to make their mark in the entertainment industry but failed to achieve comparable levels of success.

The ‘Unavailable’ crooner also said that skepticism surrounded his early days in the music industry because of his family’s wealth.

Nevertheless, he expressed gratitude for being recognized and accepted primarily based on his talent.
