Senior civil servants union gives Head of Service 14-day ultimatum to act on Bola Audu’s fate

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of nigeria (ASCSN) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and other relevant agencies in the civil service to invoke the appropriate rule in the case of Bola Audu Innocent otherwise the union would not hesitate adopting every trade union action over the matter.

National Executive Council of the union suspended Mr. Innocent as its president on March 16th, 2021 following his arraignment before a FCT high court by the National Agency for Prohibition in Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on alleged involvement in human trafficking and exploitation of vulnerable.

That was against the backdrop of what the union called illegal invasion of its national secretariat in Lagos on Monday last week by the suspended president in company of his cohorts.

In a communique signed by all the chairmen of units of the association in the ministries, departments and agencies, the union further stated that it is absurdity at high level that Audu despite facing criminal charges in the court is still retaining his position as civil servant and collecting full salaries and other emoluments.

The union said among the actions it is going to take if the needful is not done, include nationwide protests, picketing, strike action, formal report of the matter to the president and full-fledged action to get the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and other relevant government agencies to apply the public service rules to the letter as done to the immediate past Accountant-General of the Federation and other public officers that were in the past urged to step aside while facing criminal charges in the court.
