Sports Update?Ronaldo Scores Historic 700th Club Goal As Arsenal Remains

Cristiano Ronaldo scored Manchester United’s 700th goal in the clash between the club and Everton on Sunday.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that Ronaldo scored the winning goal as United came from a goal down to defeat Everton 2-1 in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at Goodison Park.

At the 5th minute, Alex Iwobi gave Everton an early lead, showing shades of his uncle, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, who was watching in the stands, to ping a 25-yard strike into the top corner for 1-0.

United’s summer signing, Antony equalised at the 15th after converting Anthony Martial’s pass into the far corner to record his third league goal.

Afterwards, Ronaldo, who came on the pitch for the injured Martial, put the Red Devils ahead a minute before the interval with a well-taken strike to record his 144th goal for United and the Club’s landmark 700th as the Reds went 2-1 ahead at halftime.

A few minutes to the end of the second half, VAR was called into action in to chalk off a Marcus Rashford goal.

However, Erik ten Hag’s side comfortably saw out the encounter for a crucial win that moves them to fifth on the EPL log.

Earlier in the day, Arsenal returned to the top of the EPL standing following a deserved competitive 3-2 win over Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring for Arsenal 58th second before Bukayo Saka’s brace ensured victory despite Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino scoring to peg the Gunners back twice.

Following eight wins from nine matches, Mikel Arteta’s side have amassed 24 points and are one point ahead of Manchester City, the EPL champions.
