The son of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Bashir says the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) should be scrapped.
Bashir, who described ASUU as a “useless union,” said the body should be replaced with educators who care about the welfare of students.
He made the comments in a tweet on Monday.
Bashir wrote: “ASUU is a very useless union.
“They should be scrapped & replaced with educators that actually give a damn about students and how that translates to the future of this country.”
ASUU commenced strike action on February 14th, 2022 to protest disagreements with the federal government.
Since February, the body had extended the strike twice.
ASUU has been at loggerheads with the government over its alleged refusal to meet an agreement signed in 2009.
