The Companion Charges Muslims To Replace Virtues Of Ramadan In Daily Lives

The Companion, an association of Muslim men in business and the professions, has charged  Muslims to replicate the virtues of Ramadan in their daily lives.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that the association stressed the need for this in a congratulatory message signed by its National Amir, Engr. Kamil Olalekan on the occasion of Id-el-Fitr to mark the end of this year’s Ramadan fast.

The Companion, while describing Ramadan as a month-long spiritual rebirth, called for a reflection on the significance of the season which it regarded as the month of mercy and blessings, by upholding its kernel at the personal and corporate levels at all times.

The group noted the high level of piety often exhibited overtly and covertly by Muslims during the holy month, adding that “Nigeria will be a better place if the leaders and the led could replicate such piety in their public and private lives at all times.”

The statement charged “Muslims, in particular, to always follow the injunctions of Allaah and the example of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, in all situations to enable them to provide the requisite illumination for society to thrive.

“While lauding the upscale in spiritual activities and virtues that characterise the Ramadan season, the Companion states that activities such as regular recitation of the Holy Qur’an, supererogatory prayers, renewed brotherhood, and care for the less privileged in the society remain vital components of Islamic practice during the remaining eleven months of the Muslim calendar.”

The association, while describing Islam as a complete way of life for humanity, posited that it is the divine religion that establishes the clearest essence of creation and defines the attributes of Allaah, the inimitable Creator of the heaven and earth.”

Referring to the recent general elections in Nigeria, The Companion, through its National Public Affairs Secretary, Muideen Adeleke cautioned against the brazen attempt to cause the polarisation of Nigeria along ethnic and religious lines by some desperate politicians during and after the polls.

NLC Gives State Govt 24 Hours To Refund Deductions From Salaries

Lifestyle Nigeria gathered that the organised labour in Niger State has given the government 24 hours to commence the refund of monies deducted from civil servants for Contributory Health Care Scheme or face industrial action that would ground the state indefinitely.

The state chairman of the union, Comrade Idris Lafene, gave the ultimatum during a low-key celebration of the 2024 International Workers Day in Minna.

The event held at Justice Legbo Kutigi International Centre instead of the usual 123 Quarters parade ground.

The Contributory Health Care Scheme was introduced by the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, where two percent of civil servants salary was being deducted.

According to Lafeni: “We woke up today with reports from some of our members that NICARE has started deducting their money. This was not the agreement we had with the Niger State Government.

” We are calling on the state government to refund our monies as well as bring those that masterminded such illegal deductions to book or the programme will never see the light of the day. ”

FG commences 15-day emergency fuel supply

The Federal Government, FG, claims to have started a 15-day emergency fuel supply to make sure the commodity is available throughout the entire nation as the effects of fuel scarcity are becoming more severe in various parts of the nation.

The government also revealed that ships that import Premium Motor Spirit would keep docking at the coast in order to empty gasoline into various depots, which would then distribute the commodity to various gas stations.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria claimed that eight vessels had been delivering 300 million liters of fuel to its members in Apapa and other parts of Lagos this week.

This was after the South-West Regional Coordinator of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Ayo Cardoso, confirmed to one of our correspondents that aside from the 240 million litres offloaded at various depots on Monday, close to 85 million litres of petrol were offloaded as of Tuesday evening.

However, The PUNCH observed on Wednesday that the queues in filling stations were yet to subside, even as Nigerians celebrated May Day.

As of Wednesday afternoon, it was observed that roads in Ogun, Lagos and others were deserted as vehicles lined up in filling stations to buy fuel. Some individuals said they had parked their vehicles pending the availability of petrol.
