Tinubu To Governors: Set Aside Political Differences To Build Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has charged state governors to set aside political differences and collaborate with the federal government to build the nation.

Gatekeepers News reports that Tinubu gave this charge while speaking during the breaking of Ramadan fast with governors at the State House in Abuja, on Thursday.

The President emphasised the importance of transitioning from politics to governance, noting the need for unity and cooperation among all stakeholders.

Presidential Spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, quoted his principal as saying, ”Since we recognize the need to build our nation together, the time for politics is over. It is now time for governance.

”We are of the same family and parents; living in the same house, but sleeping in different rooms. We must cooperate and spread love among each other.”

Highlighting the significance of the holy month of Ramadan and the Lenten season for Christians, President Tinubu urged Nigerians to use this solemn occasion for reflection, prayers, and charity towards others.

Tinubu, while acknowledging the difficulties facing the nation, expressed optimism about the future, noting that the challenges are beginning to respond to the solutions being implemented by his administration.

The President said, ”I am glad that the headwinds are almost over. The tunnel is not as dark as when we started. It is going to be brighter and brighter. We must communicate with each other, stick together, and share joy.”

Novena University/Asaba Specialist Hospital Achieve Medical Accreditation Milestone From MDCN – Lifestyle Nigeria

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has accredited Medicine as a course for Novena University/Asaba Specialist Hospital.

This feat was achieved through the commitment, drive, and resilience of Prof Ofili Charles, Provost of the College of Medical and Health Sciences, Novena University, and Dr. P. A. Ighosewe, Chief Medical Director, Asaba Specialist Hospital as well as the  prompt intervention of Dr Joseph Onojaeme, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Delta State.

The commissioner’s belief in the PPP policy of the Delta State Government and his matching order to the combined team of Asaba Specialist Hospital/Novena University to get the results without failing paved the way for this phenomenal success.

The pronouncement of this great achievement was made during the recent  advisory and clinical accreditation visit to Novena University/Asaba Specialist Hospital by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. This declaration was made by no less a personality than Dr. Nnaemeka Nwakamma, Director of Education, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, who led the team in representation of the Registrar of the Council, Dr Fatimah Kyari.

In a heartwarming exit speech, the leader of the team,  Dr Nwakamma Nnaemeka, speaking on behalf of the Registrar of the Council, commended the partnership of Novena University and the Delta State Government (Asaba Specialist Hospital), for the excellent performance in the accreditation exercise and verification of the university’s facilities, faculty, and overall preparedness to run the Novena University College of Medical and Health Sciences’ programmes.

According to him, this success makes Novena University one of the few universities across Nigeria to get Medicine accredited for it in the very first attempt. 

He said that this success is phenomenal because this is an exercise that is professionally handled to ensure the seriousness and preparedness of the Novena/ASH team to produce medical doctors for the world. By this accreditation, graduates of Novena University will be acceptable all over the world to practice medicine upon meeting the internal requirements of each country.

He further explained that the context of this success was based on the non-compromising insistence of the Council that standards must be met at all costs.

Two fake Police Inspectors arrested by Police Rapid Response Squad

Men of the Edo state police command have paraded two fake police inspectors arrested in connection with illicit drugs valued at N20 million in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, who disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City, said they were among the five-man criminal gang specialized in dealing in illicit drugs.

He gave the names of the two fake police officers as Alex Akaeze, 39, and Kadiri Hassan, 45. He also listed other members of the gang including Ovie Samuel, 46; Stanley Itota, 45; and Felix Oputi, 46.

Adegboye explained that the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Command’s Intelligence and Rapid Response Squad at a guest house operated by Samuel at No 5, Colobus Street, off Upper Mission Extension Road, Benin City.

He added that the illicit drug called ‘ice’ weighed 1,080 kilograms with a street value of N20 million.  He added that the investigation is ongoing and that the suspects would soon be charged in court.

When interrogated, one of the suspects, Akaeze, said he was enlisted into the Police Force in 2009. Akaeze, who insisted he is a Police Inspector added that he was transferred to Zamfara State from AIG Zone 2, Lagos State.

Barcelona show interest in Mason Greenwood

On loan Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood scored two goals and registered one assist to help Getafe to a 3-1 away win over Almeria on Saturday afternoon furthering speculations of the gaze on him by Barcelona.

The 22-year-old has now reached 10 goals across all competitions this campaign whilst also conjuring up 6 assists in a total of 30 appearances.

He opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a precise finish before Almeria leveled matters just 4 minutes before the half time whistle through forward Choco Lozano. Greenwood stepped up again to give his side the lead for the second time in the game as he scored just three minutes after the restart.

The English man then turned provider yet again this season as he set up veteran and club legend Jaime Mata to put the game beyond reasonable doubt.

Greenwood has been more than impressive since moving to Spain on loan, and despite his personal controversy with his partner he has been able to overcome the criticism and adversity.

Manchester United have announced that they are yet to make a decision on the forward’s future as they will be looking to accept any bids for him next summer.

Barcelona are one team who are after the signature of Mason Greenwood as they are reportedly set to offer him the club’s prestigious number 10 Jersey, worn by legends Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho to mention a few.
