\’Two Halves Can’t Make A Whole’

Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have split up after 10 months together.

The two started dating in October 2020, and became known for their hot and heavy PDA on social media and their couple’s TikTok videos.

However, Miley, 27, has now confirmed that she and Cody, 23, have called it quits. Addressing the claims on an Instagram live, Miley said: ‘A year ago, almost to this exact date, the media tried to tell my story for me, and control my narrative, and I’m just not accepting that. So today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up.

‘It was confirmed by a “reliable source” even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the individuals who are participating in it, but right now, two halves can’t make a whole and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be, like everybody else at this age.’

The former Hannah Montana star continued: ‘We are just deciding who we wanna be in our lives, what we wanna do, and so, don’t make it some drama story if next week we’re hanging out, getting pizza.

‘We’ve been friends for 10 years and we’re going to continue to be friends, so just don’t make it something that it is not.’

Just two weeks ago, Simpson posted a tribute to the Can’t Be Tamed star, writing on his Instagram story: ‘In love with my best friend.’

And a week ago, Miley shared a TikTok of her and her beau performing a swimwear-clad dance by the pool. But there’s clearly no bad blood following the split, as Aussie singer Cody wished Miley well on the release of her new single, Midnight Sky.

He shared a grab of them FaceTiming to his Instagram stories and wrote: ‘So proud of you Congratulations to the most special of all. Go cop that new new!’

Miley seemed to hint at the break-up while teasing the video for her new song, captioning a photo earlier this week: ‘Forever and ever no more. The #MidnightSky is the road I’m taking … head up high in the clouds.’

Miley and Cody, who had previously been friends, were first linked 10 months ago, following the former Disney star’s brief relationship with Kaitlynn Carter – which came after she divorced from Liam Hemsworth.

Weeks into their romance, the pair dressed as Billy Idol and Perri Lister for Halloween, and the social media love affair just got stronger from then on.

Cody is said to have supported Miley through some difficult situations over the past year, including her vocal surgery in November, and was reportedly a major source of support for her as she became ‘sober sober’ eight months ago.

It’s been a tumultuous year for Cyrus, who announced her split from husband of eight months Liam in August 2020. The pair first got engaged in 2012 after two years of dating, but broke up a year later, only to reunite in 2016.

Miley and Liam, 30, got married in an intimate ceremony at home in December 2020 – but eight months on, the stars confirmed they had separated, with their divorce being finalised in January this year.

Meanwhile, Cody previously dated Lindsay Lohan’s sister Ali, as well as a pre-Zayn Malik Gigi Hadid.
