Ganduje: Police Deny Plot To Undermine Kano Anti-Graft Commission – Lifestyle Nigeria
The Police Command in Kano State says its recall of Police Officers posted to Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) was not meant to protect All Progressives Congress, APC national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje from the gaze of the commission.
Rather, the police said the action was because of a staff audit.
The Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Friday that this was contrary to views in some quarters that the exercise was a political witch-hunt.
Gumel said rather it was meant to ascertain the exact number of police personnel seconded to the commission.
The police clarification follows reports that the police acted to protect Ganduje from further prosecution by the Kano Anti-Graft Commission.
He said the move was also meant to understand the reporting line and nature of duties assigned to each police officer since their deployment to the commission in 2015.
“The exercise was simply a response to series of reports received through the Command’s Complaint Response Unit (CRU).
“They portrayed policemen attached to the commission as being highhanded and deviating from the expected role of providing static guard and other duties at the commission.
