Veteran Actor, Olu Jacobs Celebrates 80th Birthday – Lifestyle

 

Glamsquad celebrates Nollywood veteran actor, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, better known as Olu Jacobs on his 80th birthday today, 4th July 2022.

On his official Instagram account, a post was shared to celebrate him. It was captioned, “A Toast to Olu Jacobs 80th Birthday Celebration.”

His wife, Joke Silva, took to her Instastory to share a throwback picture of him with the caption,

“Who has the foggiest idea who this handsome young man is.”

Celebrities and fans took to her comment section to shower praises on him while wishing him a happy birthday.

Glamsquad recalls that in November 2021, joke Silver revealed for the first time the health issues of her husband.

In an interview with Lawyer and media personality, Chude Jideonwo, Joke Silva disclosed that Olu Jacobs has dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).

She said,

“He is dealing with issues and it is been going on for a couple of years. It is known as dementia with lewy body”. She noted that this is the first time she’s saying it publicly.

She added:

“First time I’m saying this publicly… that is what we have been dealing with but the thing is, it is hard on him because he doesn’t understand what is going on and it is hard on us family members as well.

“We have gone through it over the past couple of years but we thank God.”

“We have gone through some times and situations recently that I wish I had the old you here so I don’t battle these times on my own but we are grateful for the moment of clarity. I miss the times we work together.”

The octogenarian who is also a writer and film producer has been a leading figure in the Nigerian movie industry with numerous achievements.

His several awards include the 2007 Africa Movie Academy Award for ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’, the Industry Merit Award at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards as well as Lifetime Award in 2016 conferred by the African Movie Academy Award.

Olu Jacobs and his wife who have been married for thirty-three years are the founders and administrators of the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts in Lagos which helps in training young actors and actresses.
