NEWS UPDATE?WAEC set to launch digital certificate platform

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will, next Thursday, launch its Digital Certificate Platform, the body has said.

Upon its launch, individuals, educational institutions and organisations would be able to confirm the genuineness of any WAEC certificate on the digital platform that can be operated on Android and IOS devices.

The platform can also help users recover burnt, lost, and damaged certificates, said a statement by the Acting Head, Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, on Friday.

“This platform is a mobile and web-based application that is designed specifically for candidates, individuals, institutions, and organizations and holds powerful features that enable users to access, share, request, confirm certificates and recover forgotten WAEC candidates’ examination numbers.

“The Digital Platform creates an easier, instant and safer mode of accessing certificates by stakeholders. With this digital platform, users will be able to recover burnt, lost, and damaged certificates.”

She added that institutions and recruitment agencies would be able to carry out bulk or individual confirmation of certificates at once and with ease on the platform that eliminates the chances of fraud.

“The benefits of this innovation are enormous, as candidates who have sat for the WASSCE in the past and present are able to access and share the original copies of their certificates with ease, the original copies of their certificates, which can be instantly confirmed from a credible and reliable source, regardless of the location,” she said.

Ms Adesina said the launching of the product will be on Thursday, 20 October.

She enjoined all stakeholders and the public to take advantage of the new WAEC Digital Certificate Platform, designed to eliminate the bureaucratic bottlenecks associated with the manual procedures of certificate issuance and collection.

“The WAEC Digital Certificate Platform is available online via www.waec.org. The mobile application can be downloaded on android and iOS app stores. For more information, stakeholders can visit www.waecnigeria .org and www.direct .ng,” she stated.

Update: Singer Apologises For Reciting National Anthem Wrongly During Police Conference

A singer, Mercy Isoyip, aka Descushiel, has apologised to Nigerians and the Nigeria  Police Force for reciting the national anthem wrongly during the Conference for Senior Police Officers in Imo State, Southeast Nigeria.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that the singer who was dressed in the police uniform during the conference went viral on Monday after she recited the national anthem wrongly and missed some lyrics at the event.

Netizens welcomed the development with knocks, trolling the singer, who was presumed to be a policewoman because of her outfit.

In a Update on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Descushiel apologised for her errors.

The Update was captioned, “I sincerely apologise for the error I made during the recital of the National Anthem, I know such errors are inexcusable.

“My good people of our country, please accept my apology, as well as my assurance that I will be more careful in the future to prevent such incidents from recurring.

“God bless the Nigeria Police Force. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Mr Ibu Undergoes Five Successful Surgeries

Veteran Nollywood actor, John Okafor, aka Mr Ibu, has undergone five surgeries which were all successful.

Recall that the actor while celebrating his 63rd birthday from the hospital bed, appealed to Nigerians to come to his aid in settling his medical bills.

Mr Ibu, while appealing for public assistance, stated that he was battling an ailment that may cost him his leg.

In a recent update in a statement shared via his Instagram page, the comic actor said he had undergone five surgeries which were all successful.

He, however, stated that he is still recovering in the ICU, and is waiting to get stabilized so he can fly abroad for further advanced treatment.

Mr Ibu appreciated the general public for their donations as he added that he is counting on them for their prayers and unwavering support.

The statement partly read, “So far, Daddy has gone through 5 successful surgeries, and he is still recovering in the ICU. Daddy is immensely grateful and we are thankful to the general public during this phase of our lives. We appreciate all the donations made to this account, and as soon as Daddy is better he will personally acknowledge all donations respectively!

“We are still counting on all your prayers and unwavering support as we pray he gets stabilized quickly to enable us to fly him abroad for further advanced treatment… The John Okafor family is grateful to all Nigerians.”
